N.Z. BAPTIST UNION
AUCKLAND MEMBERS MEET
SUNDAY GAMES DISCUSSED Members of the Auckland Auxiliary of the Baptist Union of New Zealand met on Tuesday in the Baptist Tabernacle. The president. Mr. F. Gaze, occupied the chair. Arrangements were entered for the visiting of the churches by the returned missionaries from India, the Rev. H. Jones and Mrs. Jones and Miss M. Bradfield. now on furlough in New Zealand. The Rev. John Laird, M.A.. on behalf of the committee, submitted a report which resulted in a decision to take immediate steps to secure the services of a qualified and suitable man for evangelistic work. Arrangements were instituted to hold the annual meetings in June next and the suggestion was made that the choirs of the suburban churches might engage in Gospel chorus singing as a special feature for the occasion. The following protest was passed in connection with the spread of amusements on Sundays: “That this auxiliary of the Baptist Union protests against the decision of the Minister of Internal Affairs to open the domains of Rotorua for public sport on Sundays as being detrimental to the best interests of the community and respectfully urges the early reconsideration of the subject.”
