ANNUAL CUP DAY
HANDICAPS DECLARED Harbour races for yachts and launches will be held by the Akarana Yacht Club on Saturday. All events will start and finish between the compass dolphin and a launch moored south. Keel yachts will compete for the Commemoration Cup, mullet-boats for the Captain White Cup, M, V and S classes for the He-o-lin Cup, T, X and Y classes for a cup given by the club, and the Star boats for the Brett Cup’ An At Home will be held at the clubhouse on Saturday afternoon and a dance will be held in the evening The officials will be:—Starter, Mr G. Miller; judge, Mr. G. Grimmer;’ timekeeper, Mr. T. McKnight; recorder, Mr. G. E. Laycock. Handicaps are as follow: General Handicap, Kee„ Yachts. To start at 2.30. Course, from starting line between compass dolphin and mark-boat moored south, thence round green light buoy on port, thence rourd Duder Spit buoy on port, thence to Bastion Beacon on starboard, finisihng at starting line, keeping channel side of Sandspit and Beam Rock lighthouse:—Nga-toa, scr; Windward, 8m; lona, 12m; Mahaki, 16m: Scout, 17m; Maybelle, 13m; Gloriana, Pandora, 20m; Janet, 22m; Iris, 24m; Mahoe, 26m. General Handicap, H, L and N Classes. —To start at 2.40. Course, same as that for keel yachts:—Starlight, scr; Omatere, 2m; Rakoa, 7m; Valeria, 9m; Venus, 10m; Why Not, 11m; Doreen, 13m; Wairere. 15m; Huia, 17m; Mowai, :L9m. General Handicap, M, V and S Classes. —To start at 2.50. Course;, from starting line to Sandspit, thence to Bastion, thence to Resolution, thence to Sandspit, thence to Bastion, back to finising line, keeping all marks on starboard:—Mawhiti, Manene, Matarere, Manu 11., Surprise, scr; Secret, 41m; Ranui, 6m; Mystic, 7£m; Namu, 8m; Rangatira. 13m; Bungafee. 16m; Waitoa. 19m. Star Class. To start at 2.50. Course, same as that for INI, V and S classes.— Maid Marion, scr; Moa, June, 2m. General Plandicap, T, X and Y Classes. To start at 3 o’clock. Course. from starting-line to Sandspit, thence round Bastion, thence round Resolution, thence to Sandspit, back to starting-line, keeping all marks on starboard.—Lois, scr; Shalimar, Opah, lm; Ramona, 4m; Marie. 6m; Rahiri 11., 7m; Cupid, 9m; Resolute. 12m. Launches. To start at 3.10. Course, from starting line, direct to Squadron buoy, off Rangitoto on starboard, back to finishing line. Entries: Ramona, Kenya. Nyria, Kathryn R. The handicaps will be declared today. Races for the Tauranga 7ft class and also outboard motor-boats will be held. For these events post entries will be received.
