RESISTING ARREST
TWO MEN CONVICTED From Our Own Correspondent TE AWAMUTU, Wednesday. Two men, Reginald Clarence Watson and Clive Dale, were charged before Messrs. S. H. Dunkly and W. Jeffery, justices, with using obscene language and resisting arrest at Te Awamutu on Tuesday evening. The police were of the opinion that both men came from Taumarunui and had been making nuisances of themselves and drinking freely. They were not welcomed in Te Awamutu. The Bench imposed a fine of £2 on Dale for resisting the police, and for using bad language a conviction was recorded. Watson’s record was not favourable, the police stating there would have been little trouble with Dale but for Watson inciting him. Watson was fined £2, in default 14 days’ imprisonment, on the language charge, and for inciting to resist arrest a conviction was recorded.
