FAREWELL TO BISHOP
GIFTS AT HAMILTON DEPARTURE FOR ENGLAND From. Our Own Correspondent HAMILTON. Wednesday. Prior to his departure for England to attend the Lambeth Conference, Bishop Cherrington was given a farewell in the parish hail this evening. Mr. D. Hay, who presided, said the Bishop left with the good wishes of a large number of friends. He presented him with a wallet from the St. George’s Guild of the Sanctuary and a cheque contributed by many friends. Mr. Hay also asked the Bishop to accept a travelling rug for Mrs. Cherring ton. The Bishop, in returning thanks, said that while in England he would endeavour to form organisations which would interest themselves in the Waikato diocese, and he would keep in touch with the Lichfield Theological College with a view to finding men who might be available to fill future vacancies in the diocese. Two of his greatest joys had been the work of teaching theological students at St. Anselm’s College, and the pari, ne had taken in the Church of England Men’s Society. Bishop Cherrington and Mrs. Cherrington will leave Auckland for England on Friday.
