NORTHCOTE BOROUGH

The Mayor, Mr. A. E. Greenslade, presided at the meeting of the Northcote Borough Council last evening. It was decided not to be represented at the annual conference of the Municipal Association at Invercargill. Resolutions adopted by the New Zealand Motor Trade Association, to be submitted to the conference, were received, and an expression of opinion on them was invited. The association is to be informed that the resolution providing for the maximum degree of uniformity in by-laws met with the council’s approval, but the uniformity in parking of cars, as suggested, was a subject for the local authorities to deal with individually. The sum of three guineas was voted to the funds of the Northcote and Birkenhead Regatta. Work on the firebreak in Little Shoal Bay Reserve has been commenced. When completed it will ensure the safety of the surrounding native busli from destruction by fire.
