PROBATION FOR THEFT

Following upon a report by the Probation Officer, that the offences of theft and false pretences committed by Thomas Leonard Williams were the result of foolishness rather than of criminal instincts, Mr. JListice Herdman in the Supreme Court today admitted him to probation for two years. The Judge said that drink was the real cause of Williams’s lapse and ordered Jiim to take out a prohibition order, make restitution of the misappropriated money and pay costs. Two months was allowed in which to pay.
