TWO DRIVERS IN COURT

SEQUEL TO COLLISION

ONE FINED £2 AND COSTS From Our Own Correspondent HAMILTON, Today. The sequel to a severe collision at the corner of Peach Grove and Knighton Roads, Hamilton East, at 5.30 p.m. on January 5, took place in the Police Court today, when William Bennett Young, of Hamilton, was charged with dangerous driving, and Henry Lawrence Hill, a carpenter, of Auckland, was charged with failing to give way. Both pleaded not guilty. According to the evidence Young's car overturned as a result of the collision. After the evidence had been heard, Mr. Wyvem Wilson, S.M., said the statement of each man had been made in the absence of the other. The case against Hill was dismissed, and the charge against Young amended to read “travelling at a speed which might be dangerous to the public." On this charge lie was fined £2 and costs.
