ARRESTED AT THAMES
REMANDED ON FRAUD CHARGE COLLECTOR IN DOCK Remanded from the Magistrate’s Court at Thames, where he was arrested, Thomas Henry Wise appeared at the Police Court this morning and was remanded for a week on a charge of false'pretences. Wise, a collector, aged 2S. was represented by Mr. A. V. Fraer, who asked for bail. This was allowed in two sureties each of £IOO, as suggested by Chief-Detective Hammond. “There will bo several other similar charges," added the chief detective. Wise is alleged to have obtained £5 os from Leonard Malcolm Manson at Auckland on October 311, by falsely representing that he would value a property at No. 192 Green Lane and that he had money to lend on mortgages at r> per cent., similar to the Government loan service.
