DEPORTED MAN RETURNS
GAOLED FOR THREE MONTHS Special to THE SUN CHRISTCHURCH, Today. After being convicted of assault and theft and being ordered to leave New Zealand last October, Ernest Maurice Mason, a young man, committed another offence before he left for Sydney. Last month he returned to New Zealand under a false name, was arrested and yesterday appeared in the Magistrate’s Court. He was charged with the theft of sums of £1 and 10s, which lie failed to pay to Wilfred Harold Went last September, with assault on Went and with obtaining £2 from Rachael Judge by false pretences. On the charge of fraud he was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment, to be followed by one year’s reformative detention, and on the other-three charges was convicted and discharged.
