RIFLE SHOOTING
PAEROA DEFENCE CLUES The first two shoots for a trophy donated by Mr. D. Leach were fired on the Paeroa range on giaturday bv members of the Paeroa Defence Rifle Club The conditions for shooting were fairly good and some good scores resulted. Shooting was carried out from 300 and 500 yards ranges. Details of the scoring are:—JX. ,\ Morrison (handicap 5), 31 at 300 yards, 31 at 500 yards, total. 67: AV. a' Reid (9). 29. 27—65; L. Morris (4), 27. 31—62: R. Wells (1), 28, 32—61; A. A. Jenkinson (scr), 31, 29—60; P. C. Ilubbard (3), 24, 31—58; E. Turton (1), 24. 32 —57; R. I. Roberts (4), 30, 23—57. OPOTIKI CLUB A competition for the silver spoon was held on Saturday afternoon by members of the Opotiki Rifle Club There was very little wind, but a varying light. Results were;—J. D. Clark (handicap 9), 47 at 500yds, 42 at 600yds, total, 9S; N. Andrews (10), 45, 43 — 98; H. Armstrong (12), 44. 42 —98; A. Ilollard (12), 45, 35—95; A. Saunders (13), 42, 40 —95;. G. Joblin (4), 44, 44 — 92; W. Sydenham (11), 39, 42—92.
