HOP-OFF FOR CHINA
MILLIONAIRE LLYER SEEKS NEW THRILLS MUST SEE SYDNEY LONDON, Monday. Mr. Van Lear Black, the wellknown millionaire newspaper proprietor, of Baltimore, left Croydon early this morning on a flight to China. He was accompanied by two pilots and a valet. Mr. Black’s machine is a new Fokker three-engined monoplane replete with many novel devices. It created most lively interest among flying people at Croydon.
Probably Mr. Black will gp on from China to Australia. Geysendorffer, chief pilot of Mr. Van Lear Black’s private monoplane, said Mr. Black was hoping to extend his next flight to the Dutch East Indies and Australia. He has been twice already to Java and once to the Cape. He is getting too used to just flying across Africa, Europe and India, and wants to see Sydney. Mr. Black's crew includes two secretaries.
