Mr. and Mrs. Earl Jacks, of Kemuera, leave by tlie Xiagara on Tuesday. Mrs. R. 33. McFarland has returned to Hamilton from a visit to Auckland. * * * Mrs. W. Wynne and Mrs. P. Gallaher, of Hamilton, are staying at Milford. Mrs. E. Carew Smythe and Miss Frances Smythe, of Masterton, are visiting Auckland. Mrs. X. P. Walker has returned to i Auckland, from a visit to Miss X. Roberts, in Tauwliare. Lady Florence Wecdon, of Melbourne, is on a visit to Auckland, and is staying at Hotel Stonehurst. • Mrs. A. 33avis, of Remucra, who has been visiting Gisborne, Xa.pier, and New Plymouth, has returned home. Mrs. P. Craig and her family, who have been staying at Ventnor, Devonport, have now returned to Cambridge. Mr. and Mrs. D. Phillips, of England, and Mr. and Mrs. G. Andrewes, of Kohu Kohu, are staying at the Star Hotel. * * * Miss Jean Brownlee, of Hamilton, leaves today for Auckland and Australia. Eater she will make her home in Scotland. Guests at the Grand Hotel include Mrs. G. Davis (Xew Plymouth) and Mrs. P. Baillie and daughter, of Wellington. * * * Dr. and Mrs. Murray, of Scotland, and Mr. and Mrs. J. Stevenson, of Sydney, are among the guests at the Central Hotel. Miss W. M. Burden, after an absence of 32 months on leave, has resumed her duties at the Northcote Junior High School. * * * Miss E. Xeckar, who has been spending a few days in Hamilton, has returned to Auckland, whence she sails in a fortnight for England. * * * Mies Dija Fletcher, of Auckland, recently left Hobsonville by airplane for Kerikeri, Bay of Islands. The journey was accomplished in. 80 minutes. # * * Mrs. IT. Massey and Miss Massey, of Invercargill, arrived in Auckland last evening, and will leave for Vancouver by the Xiagara tomorrow, en route to England. e * # Mrs. Wilford Shaw and family, of Victoria Avenue, Remuera, left Wellington on Saturday by the Rangitata on an extended visit to England and the Continent. * * * Mr. Justice McGregor, of Wellington, accompanied by Mrs. McGregor and Miss Cecil McGregor, was a passenger by the Rangitata, which left Wellington on Saturday for London. Mr. and Mrs. J. Goldsmith, of England, Mr. and Mrs. H. Mitchelmore, Mr. and Mrs. J. T. and Miss Gordon, Major and Mrs. C. Richardson and Mrs. E. Crawford, of Sydney, Miss A. Nathan, of Wellington, and Mr. and Mrs. D. Hall, of London, are guests at the Grand Hotel. WAIKATO NOTES Mrs. Beresford Hart left Hamilton, on Sunday for North Auckland, where she will make her home. * * * Miss Muriel Hodgson left Hamilton on Sunday for Sydney, where she intends to stay some months before going to England. * * * Mr. and Mrs. E. B. I-leywood, Miss Helen Heywood and Miss Ethel Hammond, of Hamilton, sail from Wellington by the Tainui on Tuesday, for England. * ns # Mrs. Clachan and Miss Clachan have returned to Wellington from a visit to Mrs. J. Hamilton. Mrs. Sydney Simmons has returned to Hamilton from a visit to Tauranga. Miss Belle Simpson, who is leaving Cambridge shortly to enter the nursing staff of the New Plymouth Hospital, was the guest of honour at a surprise party in the Presbyterian Hall lately. A very pleasant evening was spent in games, competitions and singing. Miss Simpson was the recipient of a handsome travelling rug from her many Cambridge friends. * * * FAREWELL PARTIES Miss Hodgson, who is leaving Hamilton during the week-end for Australia, Has been the guest of honour at several jolly parties during the week. On Friday afternoon the committee of the Lyceum Club gave her a very happy afternoon tea party. Mrs. Jolly, president of the club, asked her to accept a handsome leather travelling cushion and book of Galsworthy’s plays, and spoke of the excellent work Miss Hodgson had done as a committee member. Mrs. Douglas, the club’s patron, also made a bright little ■ speech. All wished her great happiness and good fortune. Those present were: Miss Hodgson. Mrs. F. Jolly, Mrs. H. Dougla_s, Mrs. H. J. Greenslade, Mrs. T. Platt, Mrs. W. H. Hume, Mrs. F. Bullock, Mrs. H. J. Ferguson, Mrs. W. J. Stephens, Mrs. R. B. Cranwell. Mrs. J. Page, Mrs. F. C. Vickery, Mrs. E. Walders, Mrs. J. D. Smith, Mrs. H. J. McMullin, Miss E. Eggleston, Miss M. Stevens an/l Miss G. Wyatt. On Friday evening Miss E. Eggleston, Miss N. Drake and Miss B. Burke gave a very bright party at Miss Eggleston’s home for Miss Hodgson. Progressive bridge occupied most of the evening. The prize-winners, Miss Eggleston and Miss E. Madeley, asked Miss Hodgson to accept their prizes in memory of the party, and all gave her a charming little travelling clock. There were present: Miss Hodgson, Miss Eggleston, Miss Drake, Miss Burke, Mrs. Shaw, Miss C. Lloyd. Miss W. McNickle. Miss A Drake, Miss E. Madeley, Miss M.‘ Campbell, Miss Walmsley and Miss D Johnson.
