FAREWELL TO POSTMASTER

FUNCTION AT THAMES

Mr. D. Black, who has been postmaster at Thames for the past 18 months, has been transferred to a similar position at Gisborne. On the eve of his departure last week, the post office staff presented Mr. Black with a case of cutlery. Mr. Scanlon made the presentation, and referred to the impartial treatment and consideration M.r. Black had extended to the staff. Mr. Hawke, supervisor of the postal branch, and Mr. Campbell, supervisor of the telegraph department, also paid tributes to Mr. Black.

Mr. Black said he felt deeply grateful for the sentiments expressed by the speakers, and also expressed his pleasure at having been associated with such a staff.
