SHARKS AT MOTUIHI

SCARE FOR SWIMMERS

There was great excitement among ihe picnickers at Motuihi on Saturday afternoon when sharks made their appearance. Many bathers were in the water when the cry of “Shark” was raised. The fins of two sharks were seen, and swimmers lost no time in getting ashore. Two men from a launch, moored in the bay. secured a pearifle and fired several shots at the sharks. If not hit, they were frightened away, and were not seen again. Those who went swimming afterward, however, did not venture out very far.
