EMPRESS, NEWTON
A thrilling, ail-talking motion picture about a daring wind-jammer skipper whose emotions are as turbulent as the mighty deep on which he sails, is being presented at the Empress Theatre. It is a Columbia production, directed by Ralph Ince, with Hobart Bosworth in the title role entitled ‘Hurricane.” This picture is a mighty epic of the sea with adventure, drama, romance and thrills portrayed with a sweep that will grip any audience.
Most of the action takes place aboard a wind-jammer, battling its way through rough seas. A mutiny aboard the craft provides plenty of thrills. The sound and talking effects lend realism to the rioting which was impossible to obtain in the days of silent productions. There are a few picturesque shots in a South Sea dive, where the villain, Captain Black, a pirate leader, is marooned with his men.
