ONEHUNGA CLUB’S EVENTS

The season’s second race for young birds was contested by the Onehunga Pigeon Club on Saturday. Liberated in fine weather at Poro-o-tarao, an airline distance of 117 miles, the winning bird flew to Onehunga in 2 hours 52 minutes, an average of 42 miles an hour. Sixty-five birds competed, representing nine lofts. Results.—Air. B. D. Smith’s First Flight, 3.3 98 yards a minute, 1; Air. J. Wallace’s The Sheik, 3.197 yards a minute, 2: Air. W. K. Glass’s bird. 3,156.6 yards; Air. W. Hadwin’s bird, 3,185 yards, Air. T. Collins’s bird, 1.184 yards; and Air. N. Paddy’s bird, 1,169 yards. AUCKLAND CLUB The Auckland Pigeon Club held its first rare of the season from Huntly on Saturday, and after a very fine flight the winner turned up in Air. Eric Buchanan’s Letitia. The results are:—Mr. Eric Buchanan’s Letitia, 1.109 vards a minute, 1; Air. Wright’s Little Wonder, 1.194 yards, 2; Air. Ryan’s Weary River, 1,100 yards, 3. NORTH SHORE CLUB The North Shore Pigeon Club contested its first race of the young bird series from Huntly, an airline distance of 54 miles, in fine weather, on Saturday. Results:—Alessrs. Romas and Chambers’s Blue Ace, velocity, 1,341 yards a minute. 1; Air. E. Andrews’s Glenoa. 1,298 yards, 2: Alessrs. Buchanan Bros.’ Roslyn Blue, I,2SS yards. 3. POINT CHEVALIER CLUB The: Point Chevalier Pigeon Club commenced its young bird season on Saturday with a race from Huntly in fine weather. The winning bird, Messrs. Howell and Alason’s blue chequer cock. Little Wizard, put up a record fly in completing th/3 56 miles in 40 minutes. Ten lofts competed. Results:—Messrs.
