FUNCTION AT ROTORUA From Our Own Correspondent ROTORUA, Friday. Archdeacon and Mrs. F. W. Chatterton are leaving New Zealand for an extended tour abroad, and last evening parishioners in large numbers met them to say farewell. Mr. W. W. P. Hall presided and expressed on behalf of the parishioners the kindliest of feelings toward Mr. and Mrs. Chatterton. The Rev. A. C. Randerson (Presbyterian) and the Rev. Speer (Methodist) spoke at length on their happy associations with the Archdeacon. The Ngongotaha parishioners presented Mrs: Chatterton with a bouquet and from the parish a hat case. A fountain pen, pencil and travelling bag were handed to the Archdeacon. The Archdeacon briefly detailed the progress of his work during his 11 years in Rotorua and expressed his heartfelt appreciation of the co-opera-tion of his own parishioners and the ministers of all denominations. The Rev. D. C. Bates, who will be in charge of the parish during the Archdeacon’s absence, was welcomed by Mr. Hall, trusted he would receive the support of those with whom he would be working. He wished Mr. and Mrs. Chatterton a happy voyage. The following contributed to the music propgarme:—Misses J. Giesen, lies and Mactier (two), Miss K. Hall, Miss M. McKenzie.
