NEW BUS SERVICE
TRANSPORT COMPANY TAKES OVER LOWER FARES PROBABLE An important amalgamation of motor-bus interests affecting the North Shore and the east coast services is announced. The fleet of buses operated by Mr. N. Silich, serving Brown’s Bay and the intermediate east coast resorts, has been acquired by tlie» North Shore Transport Company, Limited. The latter body has ag'reed to take possession of, and to be responsible for the service, as from Monday February 17. Mr. Silich has been running the transport service for the past two years, and has given an adequate timetable, both in summer and winter, to SM/ esidents of the man y bays beyond Milford. In marked contrast to the conditions prevailing prior to the provision of this service, these resorts now carry a large permanent population and have every prospect of becoming important residential areas. It is understood that the six buses •w th t existin & Brown’s Bay service will shortly appear in the well-known mid-yellow colour of the North Shore Transport Company’s fleet. This new acquisition will increase this latter fleet to a total of 41 vehicles. It is stated that the fares will probably be on a lower scale than those at present in force.
