SEASICK MONKEYS

STEAMER’S STRANGE CARGO The steamer Albatross unloaded at Hull recently her strange cargo of animals for a circus at Manchester. The cargo included 60 lions, 19 horses, 9 ponies, 2 tigers, 6 bears, 12 monkeys, and a dog. During the voyage from Germany two lion cubs were born.

Nearly all the animals were ill at sea. The monkeys proved to be the worst sailors. A bear cub named Teddy was so bad that he had to be coaxed with hot condensed milk before he would take even a mild interest in life.
