ROXY
“HURRICANE” Amid the raging tempest and the .din of a. mutiny aboard, a three—masted schooner on the high seas, is enacted one of the most thrilling all- - productions that ever showed in this city. It is Columbia’s “Hurricane,” which is the feature at the Roxy Theatre. The capable cast is headed by Hobart Bosworth, with Johnny IlViack Brown, Leila Hyams, Allan Ros—fcoe, Tom O'Brien, and Leila McIntyre prominent in the supporting cast The finished film is a credit to the artistry of Ralph Ince, who is responsible for the direction. \Vith the exception of a. few shots taken during a storm in a. dance-hall on a South Sea island, Where a group of pirates are marooned, the action is} laid aboard a three-masted schooner‘ bound for San Francisco. Bosworth {is seen as the skipper, a. man Whose maniacal laughter as he heads his craft into the teeth of the storm sends fear into the hearts of his men. It is by far the best thing that we have seen Bosworth do, and that is saying a. great dEal, for Bosworth is renowned for his deiineations of sea captains. The entire production is convincing. It is real. The audience lives with the characters upon the screen. The Roxy’s programme also includes . a. number of short talkie supporting items.
