GONE TO TE AWAMUTU

F. J. Smith, the popular and successful English trainer-reins-man left yesterday for Te Awamutu, to take control of Mr. Wilfred Johnstone’s trotters and pacers. Before leaving, Smith disposed of the highly-bred roan pacer Dan Direct to Mr. A. Newdick, at a satisfactory figure. Nella Dillon accompanied the trainer to Te Awamutu, where she will be prepared for the Otahuhu meeting. Auckland sportsmen who have formed a high opinion of the Englishman's qualifications both as a trotting expert and a man, will wish him every success in his new venture.
