FINAL WORD

TRY-OUTS AT ADDINGTON LINKMAN IMPRESSES

Special to THE SUN CHRISTCHURCH, Thursday. The main track at Addington was in good order this morning. ConclifC went a mile and five furlongs. He did not go at all evenly and had had quite enougli at the end of his task. He came over the last half mile of his spin at about a 2.13 clip, the last mile and a-nalf occupying 3.23 4-5. Linkman led out from Lingfield at the two-mile peg. Ho reached the half-mile in a tick worse than 1.10, the mile took 2.19 4-5, the mile and aqUarter 2.55, and the mile and a-half 3.27 3-5. Lnkman still held a good advantage over Lingfield at the mile and three-quarters, but once into the lane for homo Lingfield came up to him and there was little between the pair at the end of the Journey, done in 4.29 2-5. It was good work for Lingfield. Now at His Best Linkman is in right order for the sprint test at present, and it will occasion no surprise to find him competing with success in this department at Addington on Saturday. In the Dunedin Cup Linkman showed a lot of speed for a mile and a-half. Trimmer and Kreisler registered 3.26, the latter holding the advantage throughout. Boneta led Highborn for a mile and a-half, which took 3.35 3-5. Boneta trotted solidly all the way, but Nighborn put in a skip in the straight. Both trotters are in grand fettle. Jolly Pet was sent two miles. He was picked up at the half-mile by

sort and Young Carbine, if he keeps down, will be hard to keep out of a place. Etta Cole may not begin quick enough for such a distance, and Trampcrisp will probably want a race. Duke Bingen and Koro Peter are speedy trotters, and .if the front lot make any errors will be handy at the box. Favourites will likely be Admiral Birigen and Jock Bingen. Juvenile Handicap This item was arranged to suit three-year-olds which had not reached the higher circle, and a good field has resulted from the innovation. Although the front lot may be mostly on the green side, some of them are expected to show lip up prominently. Lord Matchlight and Dusolina may make most appeal in this quarter. Behind the front row are three with a fair degree of racing experience, and of the issue Silverwood and Automatic may be in greatest demand. Midsummer Handicap Of the fiftee nacceptors five are off the deep end, and they will present a bold front. Jean McElvvyn and Athalone will be preferred, but if Lindbergh does his work right from barrier rise lie should make things interesting. Of the next lot Zenith will hold good prospects, while if ready for the journey Tom Thumb will not be friendless. Linkman is returning to his best form and should hold his associates on the 24yds. mark safe. On recent showings King Pointer will be overshadowed by Concliff, w'hose prospects fire rosy, while the back-marker, Wrackler, will
