WINDOW-FRAMES STOLEN
DISPOSED OF TO DEALER The theft and wilful destruction of six window frames valued at £OO from the Union Steam Ship Company’s yard at Freeman’s Bay on January 10 was proved against Edward Richard Black, who stood his trial before Mr. Justice Smith and a jury in the Supreme Court late yesterday afternoon. According to the prosecution, conducted by Mr, Hubble. 22 frames unloaded from the Marama were left in the Freeman’s Bay yard during the week ended January 11, and a few days later it was noticed that six had disappeared. On January 11 and 14 Black sold fragments of brass similar to that from the missing frames to a dealer, and on accused’s propert.y a quantity of broken e-lass end rubber and a sledge hammer, suitable for breaking up the lrames, was found. In a statement from the dock Black, represented by Mr. Noble, asserted he had bought six window frames for £4 from two men who approached him in order to make a sale. After the jury’s verdict, the prisoner was remanded for sentence.
