SARRGN HAS EASY WIN
LECKIE BEATEN BADLY AT WELLINGTON NOSE INJURED EARLY Picss Association WELLINGTON, Tuesday. Pete Sarron gave Johnny Leckie, the x\ew Zealander, a boxing lesson before a large gathering at the Town Hall tonight. There was only one man in the contest. Revealing ringcraft of the highest order, the American showed beautiful footwork and speed, to practically do as he liked. Sarron rushed his man to the ropes in the second round, and drove a terrific right to the nose, from which the Xew Zealander did not recover. However, he gamely carried on until the the end of the ninth round, when he intimated that he was una.ble to continue owing to the difficulty he was experiencing on account of his nose having been broken in the second round. It is not too much to say that the Tsew Zealand public does not know how really clever a boxer Sarron is, as there is no one in this country capable of fully extending him. He proved his chivalry last evening by refraining from unduly punishing a palpablv beaten opponent, at L S'SS nos ? injured in his bout vloi against Sarron, and the New fealand champion entered the AVellington ring last evening still suffering from the effects.
