The Piako County Council loan polls for the Valley Road, £3,000, and Shaftesbury and Wairakau bridges, £1,600, were both carried, the former by 20 votes to 11, and the latter by 10 to 3. * * * The matter of a public hospital for Te Aroha was considered by representatives of friendly societies on Saturday evening, when it was decided to confer with the borough council on the subject.
