THIRD ARAPUNI UNIT
POWER BOARD’S CLAIM Until the third power unit at Arapuni is operated, the Auckland ElectricPowder BotyM is adhering to its claim that payment ratee- should pot be on the maximum demand. A letter to the board yesterday- afternoon from Mr. T. Maclennan, district electrical engineer at Hamilton to the Public Works Department, called attention to the fact that when the third Arapuni unit was operated, the board would come on to the maximum demand. This, no doubt, is their answer to the last account submitted to us, from which our general manager deducted the difference between the .3 rate of payment and the old .25 rate,” commented Mr. W. J. Holdsworth, chairman of the board, in moving the receiving of the letter. “We have claimed that we should not go on to the maximum demand until we no longer have need to operate our own machine at a cost of £SOO a week. There will be no security until all the Arapuni units are working.”
