FIRE AT HASTINGS

GOOD SAVE BY BRIGADE Press Association HASTINGS, Monday.. Fire broke out in Austin’s tobacco shop and hairdressing establishment, a wooden building in Heretaunga Street, early Sunday morning, but the Are brigade confined the outbreak to the front of the shop. The rooms in the rear were practically undamaged except for heat and smoke. The front of the shop was not damaged to a serious extent, but the stock was badly affected by fire and smoke. Shops on both sides of the fire are constructed of wood and the brigade made a good save. Insurance on the stock and fittings total £l.lOO. The building is owned by the New Zealand Clothing Factory. The cause of the fire is unknown.
