WAIHI CRICKET
From Our Oxen Correspondent WAIHI, Today. Big scoring marked the opening of the fourth round for the Ellerington Challenge Shield between Martha and Mataura on the recreation ground on Saturday afternoon, when, batting first, Martha put up a total of 191 runs. The feature of the innings was the free hitting of E. Saunders, who ran up 73 not out in quick time. His score included. 11 boundaries. A. Wotherspoon (39), R. Dutton (28), and J. T. Teesdale (14) also played good cricket. Mataura, playing six men, who included only four of its older members, had exhausted its resources before time was called, having five wickets down for the small score of 17. The opposing captain, however, agreed that the absentee players should have the opportunity of completing the innings next Saturday. Bowling analysis: Mataura —B. Beopold, 5-58; F. Thornton, 3-22: W. M. Wallnutt, 1-50; A. Thomson, 0-31; M. Zenovivh, 0-21. Martha —A. Wotherspoon, 4-14; F. Worthington, 1-2.
