AUCKLAND CENTRE’S FIRST ANNUAL MEETING SEVERAL RIDERS SUSPENDED The first annual meeting of tje Auckland Centre of the New Zealand Union of Cyclists was held last evening, Mr. H. G. Brewin presiding. The following officers were elected for the year 1930: President and chairman of committees, Air. Cr.s Paul; hon. secretary, Mr. J. < \ St* vart; hon. treasurer, Mr. C. I. Gair.sborough. It was decided to hold the following provincial championships: Sprint (c. half-mile), 1,000 metre unpaced time trial, 10 miles human paced, motor paced. The date for the meeting has not yet been decided upon. Mr. Paul donated £2 2s, and Air. J. Al. Casey a handsome kauri shield, these to form the nucleus of a trophy for annual inter-provincial competition at the meeting to decide the New Zealand championships. It was decided to thank the Te Awamutu Club for tlie very fine way in which it had treated the Auckland cyclists. On the motion of Air. Casey, it was decided unanimously that those Alanukau members who had competed contrary to the injunction of the Union of Cyclists, in the cycle race on January 22, promoted by the Auckland A.A. and C.C., be suspended. It was decided that the suspension could bo lifted -after receiving a written promise from the persons concerned that they would abide by the wishes and decisions of the N.Z.U.C., and that a breach of this promise would be dealt with by life disqualification throughout the world.
