PONSONBY BRIDE HAS MATRON OF HONOUR McKEOWN—KELLET j 4 wedding of interest to Ponsonby residents was celebrated at All Saints’ Church recently, when Aliss Alona Kellet, only daughter of Mr. and Airs. Relief, of Ponsonby, was married to Air. Alexander George McKeown. only son of Air. and Airs. McKeown, also of Ponsonby. The Rev. Air. Dawson performed the ceremony. Entering the church on her father’s arm, the bride looked charming in a frock of pa.le beige georgette, the skirt having graceful draperies forming an uneven hem, and caught with diaiuente buckles. Tliis was worn over an underdress of crepe de chine. A picture hat ti-immed with soft lolds of tulle and having a crown of velvet flowers was worn and she carried a shower bouquet of flowers to tone.
As matron of honour, Mrs. Cole was 1 gowned in larkspur blue georgette. with a skirt of tiny frills, and she wore ' a beige coloured bangl;ok hat. A shower bouquet of pink flowers was carried. Air. Harold AVilson was best man. A reception was held later at the home of the bride’s parents, where Airs. Kellet, the bride’s mother, received the guests in an ensemble of french grey, with a ballibuntal hat. She carried a Victorian posy of autumn tinted flowers. The bridegroom’s mother wore a frock, of navy georgette with a lace hat, and ospreys to tone. She carried a posy of bright red blossoms. CATHEDRAL WEDDING ROBERTS—JOHNSTONE The marriage was celebrated at St. Peter’s Cathedral, Hamilton, yesterday, of Miss Ruth Johnstone, third daughter of Mrs. and the rate Mr. Lindsay Johnstone, of Whatawhata, to Mr. Frederick Charles Roberts, only son r of Mr. and Mrs. F. W. Roberts, of Taunton, England. The Rev. C. B. W. Seton performed, the ceremony. The church was tastefully decorated in pink and blue hydrangeas, sweet peas .and greenery. Given away by her uncle, Air. Campbell. Johnstone, the bride wore a beautiful gown of Chantilly lace over ivory georgette,, made with a tight-fitting ,| bodice, and long flounced skirt. Her ! veil of embroidered tulle was caught at the head by a coronet of orange blossoms and pearls, and a beautiful shower bouquet of white flowers was carried. Two bridesmaids accompanied the bride, Aliss Berenice Johnstone (sister) and Aliss Enid Vereker-Bindon. They wore charming frocks of foxglove pink georgette and silver lace. Their picture hats were of silver, and each carried bouquets of pink carnations and maidenhair fern. Little Enid Smith made a dainty i flower girl in mauve georgette and ! silver, and Kenneth Johnstone acted as page boy. Air. S. Burnell Browne, of Wellington, was best man, Air. Nelson Duder, of Auckland, acting as groomsman. A reception was afterwards held at the home of the bride’s mother, who wore a charming French frock of embroidered navy georgette over cinnamon, with a hat of navy bangkok to match. Miss Nora Roberts, sister of the bridegroom, was wearing primrose georgette, with a hat to tone. The bride left later wearing a beige ensemble suit of georgette and lace, with, blue hat and coat of celanese satin. BAKED BANANA STEAK i Clioose a tender piece of topside | steak an inch In thickness, wipe it and split it open one end. Season with pepper, salt and a little nutmeg. Cut 2 bananas in pieces, lay on one side of the steak, sprinkle with sugar and cover with the other pieces. Place thin slices of bacon on the top and fasten together with skewers. Place in a baking-dish with a little water and I bake in the oven about haif-an-hour, ! basting occasionally. Serve garnished I with parsley.
