NEW ASSISTANT UNDERSECRETARY British Official 'Wireless RUGBY, Sunday. The Secretary of State for the Dominions, Lord Passfield, has appointed Sir Harry Batterbee assistant Parliamentary Under-Secretary to that department in succession to Sir Edward Harding. The appointment of Sir Edward as Permanent Undersecretary was announced last week. Sir Harry Fagg Batterbee was political secretary to the vice-admiral commanding the special service squadron which toured the Empire, 1923-24. Also he was political secretary to the Duke of York on his tour of Mew Zealand and Australia in 1927. Born in 1880, he was educated at Faversham School and Oxford University. He entered the Colonial Office in 1905. From 191 G-19 he was private secretary to the Secretary of State for the Colonies.
