BEACH CARNIVAL

MILFORD LIFE-SAVING CLUB TOMORROW’S PROGRAMME A monster combined gal will be held on Milford Beach tomorrow afternoon by tho Milford Life Saving Club. A L>isr_ programme has been drawn up, which includes life-saving competitions, runnings events, etc., which will be run by the Milford Life Saving Club officials .while aquatic events will be decided with the help of the North Shore Amateur Swimming Club’s officials. The beach programme is as follows:—Men’s tug of war, three-legged race, chariot race, thread the needle race, running relay race, 50 yards women’s running race, treasure hunt for children under 9, original design sand castle building competition for children under 9; while in the water the following events will be decided: 40 yards, J to 12 years, and 75 yards, 12 to 15 years, boys’ championship of Millord; 40 yards, 9 to 12 years, and 75 yards, 12 to 15 years, girls’ championship ol Milford; 40 yards, 9 to 12 years, and 75 yards, 12 to 15 years, Milford boys’ and girls’ handicaps; 50 yards open handicap, Corfu dive; 50 yards open, women’s handicap; 50 yards open breaststroke handicap; 200 yards challenge relay (four men in a team), and a burlesque demonstration will be given by the Milford Life Saving Club, post entries to be received for all events.

Trophies have been presented by the Herbert Smith Trust Fund in the shape of four handsome silver cups which have been-allotted to the four Milford boys’ and girls’ swimming championships, and the Milford Surf Club, with the help of the local tradesmen, will present prizes for all the other events, which will be presented by Mr. J. W. Williamson, the Mayor of Takapuna, after the carnival.
