NEW FISHING GROUNDS
SURVEY SHIP TO COST £BO,OOO TO HELP BRITISH INDUSTRY British Official "Wireless RUGBY, Saturday. Important plans to help fhe fishing industry were announced by the Chan.cellor of the Exchequer, Mr. Philip Snowden, in the House of Commons yesterday. A survey vessel for the better exploration and discovery of new fishing grounds is to be built at a cost of £BO,OOO. The running expenses, estimated at £34,000 a year for the next five years, are also to be paid by the Exchequer. This ship is to be constructed and equipped by the Admiralty in naval dockyards, and is to operate under control of the Chief Hydrographer of the Navy. The construction and maintenance) of this vessel by the Government i* in accordance with the recommendation of the committee which was set up in October, and which only yesterday presented its interim report.
