NEW STEAMSHIP LINE?

SERVICE TO CANADA TO BE INVESTIGATED MR. R. B. TEAKLE’S VISIT Important developments in the shipping world may follow the visit to New Zealand of Mr. R. B. Teakle, general manager of the Canadian National Railways and Steamship Company. Mr. Teakle arrived by the Niagara this afternoon, and will make a comprehensive tour of the Dominion to meet New Zealand business men who are interested in trade with Canada. It is believed that Mr. Teakle’s investigations are being made with a view to his company placing up-to-date cargo and passenger ships on a direct run between New Zealand and Canada. These vessels will carry both passengers and cargo, and will he modern in every way. One of the routes which may be taken will be from New Zealand, through the Panama Canal to New York, Halifax and Montreal. Mr. Teakle’s investigations in New Zealand will be most exhaustive. No action will be taken unless sufficient trade, both in cargo and passengers, is forthcoming.
