LOOKS BACK 119 YEARS

IRELAND CLAIMS OLDEST WOMAN ALIVE FROWNS ON TODAY’S GIRL Reed. 9.5 a.m. LONDON, Friday. Mrs. Mary Bucklaud, of Ballycommon, County Tipperary, is believed to be the world's oldest woman. She celebrated her 119th birthday today. She has vivid recollections of the outstanding events in Ireland, including the great storm of 1823, and the famine of 1847. She travelled in the first sage coach from Dublin to Cork. She declares that no young woman today will live tc her age. Late hours and amusements will prevent this. Unlike the aged man in “Punch,” she does not attribute her longevity to the fact that she was born in 1811, but to her adherence to the old adage, “Early to bed, and early to rise.”
