CAUGHT IN TRAP

PORTER WHO THIEVED FROM THE BLIND FINE OF £5 IMPOSED Caught in a trap set to catch the thief who had been stealing from the pockets of the blind men at the Jubilee institute. Archibald Stuart Mcßean appeared for sentence at the Police Court this morning, having been convicted on a charge of theft a week ago. A fine of £5 was imposed. Mcßean. a porter, aged 32, was charged with stealing 10s belonging to Joseph Elmsley Broadfoot on January 15. Mr. Holmden, who appeared for McBean, asked for time to pay, pointing out that the man had been in gaol a week. Mcßean was given IS hours to find the money, and default of the Hue was fixed at seven days’ imprisonment. Restitution of 10s was ordered.
