“DON’T YOU DARE—”
DEVONPORT HOUSEHOLDER’S FIX “Put your property in your wife’s name.” is a maxim followed by many cautious men. but it lias had an unexpected result at Devonport. One man has vigorously opposed the watermetering policy of the brouogh, and metering policy of the borough, and threatened the council with dire vengeance if it put a meter on his household water supply. One evening last week he returned home to find a water meter installed just outside his section. Last evening’s meeting of the Devonport Borough Council considered a letter from this man warning the borough of a legal action for trespass and other infringements of his legal rights. The Mayor then stated that the property was in the name of the man’s wife, and she had sanctioned the interference with the water pipes for the purpose of installing the meter.
