TRAMWAY EXTENSION

THE REMUERA ROUTE EXCAVATION BEGINS The third phase of the Auckland Transport Board’s programme of tramway extensions was begun yesterday when a start was made with the Remuera extension. The tram tracks will be extended from the present terminus to a point five chains past the intersection of Meadowbank Road with Remuera Road. The new track will be 75 chains long and will comprise one tram section. The estimated cost of the work is £24,800. The Dominion Road extension being well on toward completion, a number of men have been transferred to Remuera, where they are now engaged on excavating tho bed for the rails in the centre of the road. *
