EXTRADITION DESIRED
STEWARD CHARGED WITH BIGAMY PAPERS FROM ENGLAND Said by Chief-Detective Hammond to be a fugitive offender, Arthur Ronald Harris was remanded at the Police Court this morning on a charge of bigamy. The offence was alleged to have been committed in England. Harris, who was described as a steward or clerk, aged 34, was arrested by Detective Nalder at 11.30 a.m. yesterday. Mr. Smythe appeared for him. After the chief detective had suggested a remand until Tuesday, counsel suggested bail. “He is a fugitive offender and was ! arrested on a provisional warrant,” i said the chief detective. "He arrived i in New Zealand in November. Papers are on the way from England, and extradition is desired.” Mi’.
