TE PUKE TOWN BOARD

A special meeting of the Te Puke Town Board was held last night for the purpose of fixing the statutory halfholiday for the town district. Mr. H. O. Cooney, chairman, presided. As no other motion to the contrary was tabled, the board decided to retain "Wednesday as the half-holiday. A vote of condolence was passed to the children and relatives of the late M.r. Robert King, a member of the board for a number of years. In connection with the main street formation and repair, it was resolved to ask Mr. Cartwright, of Whakatane, to visit Te Puke immediately, and ascertain the board’s requirements, so that a report could be forwarded to the Main Highways Board. In reply to a request by the chamber of commerce in reference to the proposed queen carnival, it was resolved that a public meeting of all interested bo called for Tuesday evening, January 28, to discuss the proposal. Tlio free use of electricity was granted to the A. and P. Association at the annual show on February 8. Mr. Harold Cuff was appointed to fill the position on the Tauranga Hospital Board made vacant by the death of Mr. Robert King, the board’s nominee.
