FIRE AT PAPATOETOE
TWO ROOMS DAMAGED A four-roomed wooden residence ill Rangi-toto Road, Papatoetoe, owned by Mrs. O. J. Mawkes, and occupied by Mr. Cyril Walker, was partially gutted by fire at 1.40 a.m. today. Mrs. Walker was awakened bysmoke and roused Mr. Walker, who found the kitchen ill flames. He immediately gave the alarm io the Papatoetoe Fire Brigade, which was soon on the scene. Assisted by a good pressure of water, the brigade confined the outbreak to two rooms, The contents of the house were damaged by smoke and water. The house was insured in the Australian. Provident Assurance Company for £7OO, and the furniture in the Atlas Insurance Company for £3OO.
