MURIWAI MEETING ATTRACTS PROMINENT DRIVERS LARGE LIST OF ENTRIES The recent performances of Norman "Wizard” Smith in breaking the world ten-mile and tlie Australian and New Zealand one-mile records has boomed motor-car racing in New Zealand. And there is indeed evidence of this already in the exceptionally large number of entries received for the Muriwai Racing Club’s meeting to be staged on the Muriwai Beach next Saturday. The gathering promises to attract a record attendance. In all there are ten event's on the programme, eight of which will be for cars and the remaining two lor motorcycles. is also included a women’s handicap of two miles, for which there are seven entries. Then, in the big event of the day, the New Zealand Beach Handicap, of 18 miles, 14 drivers, most of whom are wellknown throughout Australia and New Zealand, have entered. Accommodation md%r be obtained at the beach, although it is most probable that the majority of visitors will make use of the ideal camp sites provided. The meeting will commence shortly after 11 a.m. and the club’s officials hope to have the last race contested shortly after three o’clock in the afternoon in order that enthusiasts may be given time to return to Auckland in tune for the dirt-track racing at the Western Springs Stadium.
