TENNIS STAR’S WEDDING
MISS WILLS MARRIED IN CALIFORNIA
PRIVATE CEREMONY Miss Helen Wills, the famous tennis star, was married very quietly and simply at St. Clement’s Chapel, Berkeley, on December 23, soon after noon, everyone except members of the immediate families being barred from the church. For the ceremony. Miss Wills wore a plain tailored paton ensemble suit in brown, with a handbag, scarf and hat band of dark blue silk figured in crimson. The skirt was short, with a front formed entirely of box pleats, and she wore reptile shoes with sports heels. The young couple became acquainted about two years ago on the French Riviera, their engagement being announced last year. At that time Miss Wills said she would not allow marriage to interfere with her career, but on her wedding day she would not comment upon the subject.
