CRYSTAL PALACE, MOUNT EDEN
“Innocents of Paris.” now being presented at the Crystal Palace Theatre, is a charming French romance complete with new songs and the personality of Maurice Chevalier, “the idol of Paris.” In this colourful talking and singing production, Chevalier is seen as a young Frenchman whose love affairs do not run too smoothly. In the course of the story he sings eight new and catchy songs (two or three of them in French), and the whole production is one of charming freshness. Interesting supporting talkies are seen and heard. From Thursday the same programme will also be presented at the Empress Theatre, Newton.
Most appropriately “All Quiet on the Western Front” went into production at 11 o’clock on Armistice Day. The announcement of the cast so far doesn’t indicate the presence of any woman or any love story, although Maxwell Anderson’s work of adaptation of the story has not been made public. The cast so far includes John Wray as Paul, William Bake well, who will play Muller, Ben Alexander, who has the role of Kemmerich. Walter Brown Rogers, who plays Behm, and Owen Davis, jun., Tjaden.
