SATURDAY’S RACING
On Saturday the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron will hold its first assemblage since the holiday cruising. The programme consists of harbour races, including events for the Macky Memorial Trophy for first-class yachts, the Johnson Cup for B class keel boats, and the Wilson Cup for the M’s. Most of the squadron’s boats ore now in good fettle for the Anniversary Regatta of tomorrow week, and Saturday’s racing should show the best of form, providing the winds are reliable. The Takapuna Boating Club also has an important fixture on Saturday, its annual regatta. All the club’s usual competitors are expected to line up from keel classes to the smallest types. The outboard division of the New Zealand Power-boat Association will run another series of speed races on the Panmure Basin on Saturday. The programme provides for a number of handicap events for all classes of motor. A fortnight ago the division met with bad luck over the weather, and two races had to be abandoned. Better luck this time.
