TE PUKE NOTES

The proposal to hold a queen carnival in March, for the purpose of raising funds for the erection of a rest room and swimming baths was discussed at a meeting of the Te Puke Chamber of Commerce on Saturdav evening. * The attendance of members was poor, and the chairman, Mr. G. Persev strongly criticised the business people for theft* apparent lack of interest in the proposal. Mr. Sweetman said the rest room was a necessity for country visitors to Te Puke, but owing to the meagre attendance of business people at the meeting, it was impossible to proceed further in the matter. It was finally decided that the Te Puke Town Board be asked to convene a public meeting to discuss the proposals with regard to a rest room and swimming baths.
