SALES WITHOUT SERVICE
FRIENDLY WARNING TO BRITISH TRADERS WOOING DOMINION MARKETS Reed. 11 a.m. LONDON, Thursday. “When I was in Australia I found that the Australian Prime Minister had bought two English motors. One met with an accident, and he waited three months to obtain spares, aud was then billed for £S9. The Australian Governor-General had a similar experience. Sales must be followed by service.” So said Sir Arthur Duckham, in his presidential address.to the British Export Society. He added that it would be absolutely wrong to rely entirely on the Dominion trade. The world is our dominion for exports, but British exporters are now faced by competitive prices and competitive quality. Big trade with the Dominions meant big trade both ways. We could not expect the Dominions to give us a great deal without doing something for them.
