O’Connor, who has started for the Wellington Club for many years, will not officiate on this occasion. He has advised the Wellington Racing Club that he has had to undergo an operation to his eyes and will be unable to officiate at the forthcoming meeting. W. Price, of Wanganui, who has had a lot of experience at the Manawatu, F'eilding and various district meetings during the past few seasons, has been appointed to fill the vacancy. Prodice’s scratching time from the Wellington Cup was 11.45 a.m. on Thursday and Hoylake’s 4 p.m. the same day. Additional riding engagements are: H. Gray, Ex Uono: R. Reed. Bernera: K. BRIGHT GLOW IMPRESSES At Hawera on Tuesday morning Bright Glow was taken to the bottom of the straight and, getting into a good swinging gallop, was picked up by Vivo and Banbridge at the mile start; from here the trio went well, running the two furlongs in 26scc, three in 40, half mile in 525, and five furlongs in Imin Glsec. Bright Glow here left her companions, finishing on in good style in 1.48, Vivo and Banbridge being a long way back. Bright Glow’s effort was pleasing, being a big improvement on her last gallop. The Warden got a slight advantage of Richfield at the jump-off in a sprint over five furlongs and led for two furlongs, where Richfield ranged alongside and, coming up the straight, had the measure of his companion, finishing three-quarters of a length in front in 1.55. O. Cox's pair of two-year-olds. Isa and Double Red, were responsible for a smart sprint over four furlongs, running the distance in 51 1-5. Double Red runs greenly but is improving in this respect.
