PAIRS COMPETITION
BOWLING AT DUNEDIN DOMINION TOURNAMENT Press Association DUNEDIN, Wednesday. The Dominion bowling tournament was advanced another stage today when it start was made with the pairs competition. A little rain tell during the night and about the time fixed lor the commencement of play a thick drizzle set in which threatened to make play impossible during the day. Shortly before noon, however, the weather cleared, and it was decided to start the games at 2 p.m. Just as play was started light rain set in again, ami although it was not heavy enough to stop play, it made matters very un- ! pleasant on most greens. The entries totalled 176 and 14 greens were required to accommodate the players. The greens were naturally heavy, but otherwise they were in splendid order. Two rounds were decided today and the remaining three to complete tlio section play will be played tomorrow. Owing to delay caused by the rain the games have been cut down to the limit of two and a-half hours instead of two and threequarter hours, as originally intended. Aucklanders fared as follow: —Bremner (West End), two wins, no losses: Hardley (West End), 0,2; Jenkin (Carlton), 1,1; Parsons (Ponsonby), 1, 1: Jones (Ponsonby), 1,1; Needham (West End), 2,0; Coltman (Carlton), 2, • 0.
