PELTZER IN ACTION

FIRST RACE AT SYDNEY EASY WIN IN HEATS SYDNEY, Wednesday. Dr. Otto Peltzer, the German champion runner, made his first appearance in a competitive event this evening at an athletic carnival at the Manly sports oval. Light rain fell. Dr. Peltzer ran in a heat in the 880 yards invitation scratch race against six prominent Australian runners. He won easily, finishing with a burst of speed that simply smothered the opposition. His time was 1.59 4-5, which was slow owing to the track being heavy. Dr. Peltzer stated afterward that he was not used to grass tracks. He said he thought the local runners would do much better on a cinder track. His record for the half-mile is 1.51 3-5. Dr. Peltzer will run in the final heat of the race on Saturday evening.
